PS5 and PS4 game codes are full titles delivered digitally. Redeem the code on a PlayStation Network account and the game is added to the library, ready to download with no disc involved.

Once redeemed it behaves like any other digital purchase on that account: it stays there permanently, updates normally, and can be downloaded again on another console you sign into.

What is a PSN game code?

A one-time activation code for a PlayStation title. Redeeming it ties the game to that account for good. Codes are single use and cannot be moved to a second account once activated.

This is ownership rather than a subscription. The game does not disappear if a PS Plus membership lapses.

Things worth checking

• Console generation. Some titles are PS5 only, some are PS4 only, and some include both versions. The product title states which.
• Edition. Standard, deluxe and other editions differ in bundled content rather than in the core game.
• Region. A code only redeems on an account registered to the matching country.

How to redeem

On the console, open the PlayStation Store, select your profile icon, choose Redeem Codes, enter the 12 digit code and confirm. In a browser, playstation.com/redeem works the same way. The title appears in the library and can be downloaded straight away.

Redeem on the account that will play it. PlayStation does not transfer digital purchases between accounts afterward.

Region is the thing to get right

A game code bought for the wrong region will be rejected at redemption and cannot be exchanged. The region on a PSN account is the country chosen when the account was made, which is not always where the person lives now. Every product title on this page states its region.
