Roblox is less a single game than a platform of them, built almost entirely by its own users. That structure explains why its currency works the way it does: Robux is spent across millions of separate experiences, on items, passes and access, rather than inside one title.

Credit and Robux are not the same thing

A gift card adds credit to the account. That credit can then be exchanged for Robux, or used for Premium. Robux products give the currency itself.

The difference matters when the goal is a Premium subscription, because Robux alone will not pay for one. If Premium is the intent, the gift card is the product that covers it. If the recipient only wants currency to spend in experiences, either route arrives at the same place.

Region and account notes

Roblox gift cards are issued per region and redeem against a matching account. The account itself is not currency-locked in the way a console store is, but the code still has to match the region it was issued for.

Redeem on the account that plays. Credit and Robux cannot be moved between accounts once applied, and Roblox does not reverse a redemption.
