How prepaid credit behaves on a subscription

Credit sits on the account as a balance. Each billing cycle takes its cost from that balance instead of from a payment method. When the balance is exhausted, Netflix falls back to a card on file, or the subscription lapses if there is none.

This is what makes it useful as a gift: it funds a defined number of months and then stops, with no recurring charge left behind on anybody’s card. It is also why the plan tier matters. A premium plan draws down the same balance faster than a basic one, so the number of months a given amount covers depends on which plan the account is on.

Netflix codes are issued per country and redeem only on an account registered in that country. A code from the wrong region will be rejected, and Netflix does not convert or transfer balances between regions.

Regional catalogues also differ, but that follows from where the account is registered rather than from the code itself.

Confirm the country of the account and the plan it is on, then match the region stated in the product title. A mismatched code cannot be corrected after purchase.
